Inefficiencies highlighted the need for a more automated, reliable approach to processing Bill of Lading (BOL) data—
Relying on a fully manual process to manage BOLs, Accurate Transport’s order entry required staff to enter shipment data into the carrier’s CLI freight management system, often working from paperwork submitted by drivers or collected at terminals. This approach created two significant issues, including:
- High labor requirements from dedicating multiple employees to solely focus on order entry tasks, increasing administrative costs
- Data accuracy concerns, as manual entry frequently led to errors and incorrect data capture
These inaccuracies resulted in operational disruptions, customer service issues, and
lost revenue when billable services were not properly recorded.
Solution
To address these challenges, Accurate Transport implemented the AI-powered BOL Extraction module from Carrier Logistics that is fully integrated with its freight management system. AI BOL extracts shipment data directly from Bills of Lading and eliminates the need for manual entry by enabling automated creation of shipment records.
AI BOL from CLI is now processing approximately 50% of the freight volume at Accurate Transport. BOLs are handled using the module either by scanning orders in batches at terminals or by drivers. Accurate is expecting to fully automate this process.
